Man caught hawking human parts

 The Kwara Command of the  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested  a 35-year-old man for allegedly trading in human parts.
The News Agency of  Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspect was arrested in  Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government  Area of the state following a tip-off.
The NSCDC State Deputy Commandant, Mr AlHassan Akor, told NAN in Ilorin on Tuesday that one John Olalekan, a 30-year-old commercial motorcyclist, had earlier been reported missing on March 26  by his family.
He explained that investigation by  officers of the command and the police  led to  the arrest of the suspect who was said to have hired  the deceased to carry  him  to the outskirt of  the town.
The deceased was said to have been  attacked and killed by a gang led by the suspect.

 Over 10 million Nigerian kids are not benefiting from any form of education, so says the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayatu Rufa’i.

You cant ban us - Okada men dares Fashola

 Commercial Motorcycle operators in Lagos (popularly called Okada riders) yesterday told a Federal High Court sitting in Ikeja that there is no law in the state which empowers the Government to ban their operation on Lagos roads.
They stated this through their lawyer, Bamidele Aturu in a suit filed against the government by four different Okada riders associations in Lagos

Woman rapes pastor at gun point

 A  pastor was allegedly forced to be intimate with a woman under duress from two male accomplices.
The latest report of an attack on a man hitch hiker by people hunting for sperms for ritual purposes has prompted police to issue a warning to men to avoid traveling at night alone, or without reliable transport.
Police said the pastor (name withheld) was offered a lift by the suspects driving a Toyota Ipsum model at Karoi town, west of Harare, around midnight last Friday.

Accused woman claims she made $.5m selling pure water

 One of the accused persons standing trial in the N14.5 billion Police Pension scam, Mrs. Veronica Ulonma Onyegbula, has told investigators the $544,632 (about N82 million) found in one of her companies, Ulover International Resources Limited, was realized from selling pure water which the company produces.
Mrs. Onyegbula stated that the company which was situated in Umuahia, the Abia state capital belonged to her mother whom she said suffered stroke seven years ago

Goodluck commences Easter holiday

 President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday commenced a week-long vacation.
According to a terse statement issued by his media aide, Dr. Reuben Abati, the president will remain in Abuja during the period and continue to deal with all essential affairs of state.
He is expected to return to his regular office routine after the Easter holidays.
"President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will take a week-long break from his usual work routine beginning today, Monday, April 2, 2012. President Jonathan will remain in Abuja during the period and continue to deal with all essential affairs of state. The President will return to his regular office routine after the Easter holidays," the statement reads.

Earlier this month M-Net revealed its exciting plans for the expansion of the popular AfricaMagic channels on DStv and now more details on the channels are being released.

For subscribers in East, West and Central Africa, the five channels they will see from April 16 include the flagship AfricaMagic channel, now focused into a family themed channel, along with the dedicated AfricaMagic Movies channel, which was formerly AfricaMagic Plus. Man caught and killed for planting bomb on tanker

 A man was killed yesterday in Unguwar Mu’azu of Kaduna while attempting to plant a bomb on a petrol tanker parked along the busy Nnamdi Azikiwe Express Way.
Witnesses said that the yet-to-be identified bomber was disguised as a mad man. He was spotted carrying a carton containing explosives and was seen trying to plant it on a loaded tanker parked by the express way.
Unguwar Mu’azu, a suburb of Kaduna and located along Abuja-Kano road, is populated by mostly tanker drivers, who lift petroleum products from Kaduna refinery. Only the bomber and was killed and the petrol tanker was burnt down.

Evander Holyfield in Badagry to visit ancestoral home

Evander Holyfield, five-time World Boxing Champion, on Saturday visited Badagry, Lagos state seeking to reconnect with his African roots and the possibility of investing in the country’s tourism industry.The Alabama, U.S.-born retired pugilist believes he is of African descent.
 He visited the historic town on the invitation of Mr Yomi Ajose, a former Senior Special Adviser to the Badagry Local Government Council. Holyfield, who went to pay homage to the traditional ruler of the town, Wheno Aholu Meno Toyi I, the Akran of Badagry, said that he was visiting to trace his African roots. “I am happy to see His Royal Majesty, the Akran of Badagry and to also reconnect and re-unite with my ancestral land,” he said. Holyfield is one of the offspring of the Blacks in the Diaspora who were taken into slavery during the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade in the 18th century.Welcoming him, the Akran said that he was happy to host to the former world boxing champion.

 Police continue to look for a possible motive in the shooting death of Gretchen Crooks, allegedly by her 13-year-old son Noah. Police responding to the Crooks home, in Osage, Iowa, on Saturday night, found the woman shot multiple times after her teenage son - the alleged shooter - called 911. 'We're at a loss.
