At last, the Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the application of the All Progressives Congress for registration as a political party.
The APC, made up of the Action Congress of Nigeria, the All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Congress for Progressive Change has had a running battle with INEC over its move to merge and become a new political party.
In a statement on Wednesday by its Secretary, Abdullahi Kaugama, INEC said it has withdrawn the certificates of the ACN, ANPP and CPC following the successful merger.
The Commission said the parties have met all requirements for merger.

Police questions Ibinabo
Impeached National PRO
of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is determined not to sit down and take his
impeachment with a pinch of salt. During the week, he involved the police in a
aim of seeking to “protect himself from attacks by the AGN”. Dallas alleged
that the first female president of the guild, Ibinabo Fiberesima sent some boys
to attack him.

THE Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday voided the de-registration of political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The judgment was sequel to a suit filed by Hope Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the 2011 general elections, Rev. Christopher Okotie.
The plaintiffs had through their counsel, Fred Agbaje asked for a declaration that section 78 (7) (ii) of the Electoral Act, 2010 is unconstitutional, invalid, null and void to the extent that it offends the provisions of section 40 and 221-229 of the 1999 Constitution.
The plaintiffs also asked the court to make a declaration that INEC cannot deregister the party except in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
They further asked the court to declare that the purported reliance on section 78 (7) (ii) of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended, by INEC in deregistering FDP without first hearing the political party violated the provisions of sections 36, 38 and 40, as well as sections 221-222 of the 1999 Constitution, and paragraph 15 of the 3rd schedule (part 10 of the Constitution) among others.

Lagos commissioner for finance, Tokunbo Abiru, resigned from his office to take up an appointment as the Executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria Plc and a Board member of FBN Holdings Plc. The resignation was announced by the Lagos state government on Monday, July 29, 2013. According to a statement made by the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Hakeem Bello, Abiru’s resignation, which was formally tendered on Monday, would be effective from August 1.

Actress, Funke Adesiyan disgraced over N80,000 agent debt

Funke Adesiyan is constantly being embarrased publicly by a Lagos property Agent, Tolulope Idowu over the sum of N80,000 being the property agency fees for her newly secured home in Ajah area.

Idowu alleged that three months ago, he secured a two bedroom apartment through one manager of the property, identified as Lucky, for Adesiyan for N1.220 million was yet to be paid the agent fees, which the actress agreed to pay, before moving into the apartment.

US based Nigerian jailed for having children with his daughters
A New Jersey man was sentenced to 50 years in prison Friday after being found guilty of sexually assaulting his daughter, adding a half century to the 40 years he was sentenced to in November 2011 for sexually assaulting another of his daughters.Aswad Ayinde, 55, was found guilty of the charges against the second daughter, whom he impregnated four times, in March. The jury found that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with her when she was between the ages of 8 and 22. At Ayinde's 2010 trial, his former wife said he was trying to create "pure" family bloodlines by impregnating several of his teenager daughters.Arrested in 2006, Ayinde has been accused of raping five of his daughters, three of whom are believed to have given birth to a total of six children.

Dola Indidis, a former judiciary spokesman, Dola Indidis says Pontius Pilate did not have jurisdiction to hear Jesus’ case, the trial was unfair and the punishment had no legal basis. He spoke to Larry Madowo on his endeavor.

Breaking!!! Nando thrown out of Big Brother house for weapon possesion
Tanzania's Nando has been disqualified from the Big Brother House. After tonight's Evictions that saw Annabel and Sulu being given the boot, Big Brother then gathered all of the Housemates in the living room.
Today Big Brother reproached Nando for the fight that he had with Elikem on Friday. The heated face-off with Elikem saw the two fellas exchanging fiery words between them. Nando is the one that instigated the fight. Instigation and provocation is a violation of the Big Brother rules.

Nigerian breaks record in London
Our own sprinter, Blessing Okagbare today smashed the African 100m Women's record. She came from the back and stormed through to win in 10.86s, setting a new African record at the London Olympic Anniversary Games.
In May 2007, at the All-Africa Games trials in Lagos, she established a Nigerian record of 14.13 metres in the triple jump. At the 2007 All-Africa Games she won the silver medal in the long jump and finished fourth in the triple jump. In the latter competition her Nigerian record was beaten by Chinonye Ohadugha, who jumped 14.21 metres. She won a bronze medal in the women's long jump event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Okagbare scored a 100 m/long jump double at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship for University of Texas at El Paso, completing an undefeated collegiate streak that year. She won the Nigerian 100 m title in 2010, running a time of 11.04 seconds, and stated that she was opting out of the long jump in order to save herself for the upcoming African championships.

The harassment has taken a xenophobic dimension, Just 2 days ago a Nigerian with Valid passport and entry Visa to Kenya was stopped by plain clothes policemen, when they requested for his passport, he promptly presented it to them. The passport was immediately seized and he was asked to to leave Kenya, as Nigerians only come to Kenya to take their woman, he resisted and insisted that he committed no offense, he was immediately attacked and beaten to a pulp and he was bleeding profusely.
