CNN Features Tara Fela-Durotoye

Tara Fela-Durotoye, Chief Executive Officer of Africa's leading beauty brand, House of Tara - iconic  for setting up the first make up studio and establishing Nigeria's first make up school in 2004 -  on CNN's African Voices, a weekly show that highlights Africa's most engaging personalities and explores the lives and passions of people who are shaping change in Africa.

Inspired by her stepmother's beauty routine and her work as a makeup artist during her time at the university, she says she was inadvertently drawn to cosmetics, after seeing "what makeup actually does to a woman in terms of self-esteem and confidence."

While talking about her passion for teaching, Tara said: "I am still a teacher, the only thing is that this time, I'm not teaching maths or English. I'm teaching enterprise: I'm teaching makeup artistry as a platform for enterprise."

Actress, Eve Esin Pleads for peaceful elections

The pretty actress feels concerned about violence as the elections draws closer. Here is a release she sent me for her fans.

Dear All,
As Elections 2015 beckon, my heart grieves as I daily read about the increasing spate of violence among youths; the uncouth languages of politicians and social media bickering among, otherwise, buddies over where the pendulum of power should swing.
It is 12 days to the presidential election and as we look forward to that day, I am writing to all my fans and Nigerian youths in general to go to the polling units to cast their votes peacefully and when the results of the elections are released, please, accept the outcome and move on. If you believe that your candidate was cheated, please, let them go to the court to seek redress. Violence will solve nothing. Instead, it would claim innocent and promising lives while properties would be destroyed.
To the politicians, I believe anyone who decides to seek elective position does so because they want to serve. If, for any reason, the people you aspire to serve turn their backs on you at the polls, please, accept this in good faith and gird your loins for future elections. If you feel cheated, kindly do the right thing by seeking redress in the law court and encourage your supporters not to shed blood or destroy properties.
Finally, February is a time to love and in all we do, let’s remember to love our neighbours as we love ourselves because each time we do, we make God happy. Thanks for being there for me; your love motivates me to keep giving my best. Keep loving right and keep buying Nigerian movies.
God bless you

Annie unfazed by Tuface kissing scandal

During the week, a picture emerged of Tuface Idibia kissing his baby’s mother and ex lover, Pero Adeniyi. The picture of the two saw them hugging each other and kissing each other at a night club. One of the pictures even saw Pero sitting comfortably and Tuface’s laps. Instantly stories started flying around that the marriage between the African Queen crooner and Annie is in trouble and was about to hit the rocks.
The whole story was also fuelled by the fact that Annie recently granted an interview where she said that she would not want her daughter to marry a man that already has children from other women. That statement got a lot of negative reactions online, so when the pictures surfaced, it was easy to deduce that all is not well with the marriage.

When reached to find out the status of her marriage after the exposure of the pictures, Annie released this statement, “I am aware of the photo's circulating the internet with my husband and Pero Adeniyi. I want to state officially that I was not in that space at that time and therefore there was no confrontation between myself and Pero Adeniyi. Pero Adeniyi and this momentary indiscretion poses no threat whatsoever to my relationship with my husband. As a matter of fact for all of our children's' sake, I do encourage cordial relationships with parties involved. This year, my focus is solely on God, Family and my Career which doesn't give me the luxury of paying attention to any distractions.” Tuface is yet to talk on the issue.

Funke Akindele to take Linda Ikeji to court

‘APOLOGISE TO FUNKE AKINDELE NOW’, LAWYERS TELL LINDA IKEJI
Once again, It seems Nigeria's top blogger, Linda Ikeji has been called out by another celebrity. This time it is actress, Funke Akindele.. He Lawyer just served Linda Ikeji papers asking her to apologize for her post or get ready to go to court. When i went through the story, it seems, Linda carried a story which suggested that Funke Akindele, called out fellow actress, Toyin Aimaku after gists flew around that they were separated. I for one did not see anything wrong in the story as Linda was very careful with  her words and never said anything definite. It will be interesting to see things play out.

Guys: Before you jump in bed with a virgin

Chatting with some friends lately and I can’t remember how the to topic veered into sleeping with a virgin. Two of them said it was the worst experience of their lives, two said he would really like to try one out. I? well I ask myself, are there still virgins out there? What I don’t understand is, why are there mixed reactions to getting down with a virgin. This is what I came up with after asking around and some online queries.
1- There’s extra prep work
Unlike a more experienced woman, a virgin really doesn’t know what to expect. This means that you’re going to have to put in some effort before the deed is done and plan ahead to make sure that she’s comfortable and completely willing. It may take some considerable convincing on your part to get her into bed, and while that isn't one of our five reasons not to sleep with a virgin, your seduction skills will certainly be put to the test when it comes to taking a girl’s virginity. Also, the older she is, the harder it will be. If she has managed to protect her virginity all through her school days and into her 20s, it will be that much more difficult to persuade her that she should give it up to you.

Boko Haram: Swell Christmas for forgotten victim as Prophetess Nonnie, others intervene

It was a swell Christmas for one of the victims of the Nyanya bomb blast when Women in Clergy, under the leadership of Prophetess Nonnie Robertson gave her reason to smile without her only child whom she lost in the bomb blast.

Recall that Madam Grace Omokoro Joe, was sometime in May, 2014 empowered by the same religious body where she was given several gift items including cash.

The woman who is also a widow told reporters that her only Son, Joel Olukayode, a graduate of Federal University of Technology was everything to her and that death wickedly snatched her away on the fateful day.  She said Joel was to resume his first temporary job in Abuja town the said day the incident happened.

She said " on the fateful morning, we had our morning devotion and I asked my Son to take at least a cup of tea, but he said he was okay, and I gave him my blessing. After 10-15 minutes that he left, the blast went off. I went outside to check if he was still there, but I didn't see him, so I quickly ran to the park, and on getting there, I saw my Son on the ground, dead. That was the last thing I could remember. He was my only child"
However, as part of their Christmas sacrifice to the nation and those who are continuously at the losing end of the Boko Haram war, Prophetess Nonnie and few other members of the Women in Clergy empowered the bereaved woman with different gift items, including bags of rice and some undisclosed amount of money.
