Yesterday, the Association of Movie Producers (AMP)
re-elected it’s President Zik Zulu Okafor. The elections which took place in
Surulere, Lagos, elected various executives of the association. Zik Zulu emerged
winner after he contested un-opposed.
Many members of the association described the election as free
and fair. Unlike other elections by other movie guilds which usually end in fights
and election cancellation, the AMP elections were peaceful and observers were
allowed to witness every step of the balloting.
Zik was not available to make a statement after the
elections. Both his phones were switched off. A member of the association,
Fidelis Duker, commended the election process saying that it was very open and fair.
He congratulated Zik Zulu while wishing him a better second term. “Zik is a
good leader and he deserves to win,” he said.
Zik has been the president of the association since 2011.
His administration had been hailed for his many reforms in the association. Last
year though, he was in a scandal involving misappropriation of a N50m grant by
Governor Akpabio. He has since cleared his name of wrong doing.
