EFCC wants to poison me - Gbenga Daniel

 (Nigerian Compass)
FORMER Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has raised the alarm over a plot by a police officer, Danladi Yatah, and an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Iliasu Kwabair, to connive with his political detractors to eliminate him while in detention.
The former governor, who also accused the Governor Ibikunle Amosun administration of being behind the conspiracy, said the allegation that he was keeping a killer squad would be used as a decoy to detain him after his re-arraignment today to execute the plot.

The conspiracy borders on an attempt to inject him with poison while in prison.
Weeks after he was discharged after the case against him was struck out, he will be re-arraigned today on a 38-count charge bordering on N200 million fraud.
For want of fool-proof charges, he is being charged with involvement in some land deals based on a White Paper issued on the ongoing Land Commission of Inquiry set up by  Amosun, as well as alleged failure to declare assets and receipt of some monies by a company which he is said to have interest.
The EFFC had made a deposition to counter the fresh bail application submitted by lawyers representing Otunba Daniel, led by Prof Taiwo Osipitan (SAN), that he should not be granted bail because of the alleged killer squad which might be used against witnesses, citing the suicide of Apagun Oluwole Olumide as a reference point.
It is generally believed that Olumide committed suicide because of the way he was hounded by Amosun since May, last year until he committed suicide a few weeks ago.
But in a  counter affidavit filed by Ojo Akinwale, one of Daniel’s lawyers, he stated that Yatah, who deposed to the oath that Daniel was keeping a killer squad without apprehending any member of the squad, would be reported to the Police Service Commission for disciplinary action.
He also said that Kwabair, the leader of the investigation team of the EFCC, has a perpetual hatred for Daniel on account of his (Kwabair’s) relationship with the former governor’s opponents.
Daniel had earlier been accused of stealing N58 billion by the EFCC before he was taken to court on charges less than N6 billion. The case was struck out.
To show that it is  a clear case of persecution, he has now been charged with N200 million fraud.
