Lagosians had a feel of the on-going star Trek last Friday
as it touched down in Ejibgo. Performing at Ejibgo were Wande Coal, J Martins,
9ice, and home grown Ejigbo artistes who also got cheers.
Held at the Ejigbo Mini stadium, the show had an impressive
turn out as the host community as well as other parts of Lagos were present at
the gig.
The night kicked off with the Star Quest 2012 winning band,
Crystals. The band wowed the crowd miming songs from established acts while
also performing original compositions. Just when it seemed like the show had
gotten to its climax, the first of the major acts for the show turned up. It
was none other than the ace producer and crooner, J Martins. The Abia
state-born artiste took the crowd through hit tracks and the crowd seemed to
enjoy every moment of it.
Wande Coal, took the stage next. If J Martin’s performance
was enjoyable, then Wande Coal succeeded in taking the excitement a notch
higher. The artiste, who proudly wears his background from Mushin, a popular
ghetto in Lagos State.
9ice, the next artiste to mount the stage was no less
entertaining. The ‘Gongo Aso’ hit singer connected with the audience with his
Yoruba infused-songs. He did same at Ilesha the next day.
The Ilesha leg of Star Trek was no less interesting. Gbenga
Adeyinka, compere for the Ilesha leg, did a yeoman’s job of wowing the crowd
that trooped to the Zenabab Hotels and Resorts, venue of the event. The
homegrown talents that performed were G-Boy, Fairy, X-Kolex and S-Dac. Others
were Street Pastor, Lastborn G, Yoga, T Wayne, CY, Icons, Samola, Pundit, Ojo
and JJ Razor, a dancer.
The first superstar act to thrill the crowd was MI. He took
the ecstatic crowd down memory lane as he performed Anoti and Talk About It
from his first album. He also wowed the crowd with sublime rap lyrics from some
of his songs like Action Film, Countdown, One Naira, Beef and Talk About You,
Undisputed Champion and Africa Rapper No 1. He also paid tributes to artistes
such as Ice Prince, Sauce Kid and Mode 9.
Next on stage was Wande Coal who thrilled the crowd with
songs like Sope Ti E, Se Na Like Dis, You Bad, Give It To Me, Bumper To Bumper,
Over The Moon, Jeun Soke and Been Long You Saw Me. Next to perform was 9ice
whose hit tracks Photocopy, Give Me The Lighter, Attitude, among other tracks
thrilled the enthusiastic crowd. Yinka Best concluded performances at the
Ilesha leg of Star Trek.
Star Trek moves to Benin this Tonight with D’Banj as the
headlining act. Also performing in Benin will be Flavour, Sound Sultan and Tiwa
Savage. On Saturday, Flavour, Ice Prince, Sound Sultan, Omawunmi, Waje, M.I and
Da Beat, 2011 winners of Star Quest will feature on stage. The Crystals band,
the Star Quest 2012 winning band, will feature at both Star Trek locations.
