Iroko Tv boss under fire

Jason Njoku has revolutionised movie how Nigerian movies are seen especially around with the world. With his Iroko Tv website, viewers all over the world can watch Nigerian movies for free, while he and his partners capitalise on the volume of traffic to the site. He also owns Iroking, a similar website to Iroko Tv but it is strictly for music.

His site has also turn out to be one of the income makers for movie producers across the country as he pays them to show their movies on his site. This makes him a key player in the industry. But this week, there are some negative reports of him which could put a dent to his good image. Recently he sacked 11 of his staff including the Chief Executive office or Iroking, Micheal Ugwu, and they have been going to town describing Njoku as a wicked boss.

In his defense Jason in a release said that it was Micheal who breached his agreement. “We can confirm that Michael Ugwu is no longer the CEO of iROKING and has left the company. He was dismissed earlier this month with immediate effect for gross misconduct. It came to light that, whilst under contract and salary of iROKING, Michael Ugwu set up and launched his own digital music platform, in direct competition with iROKING. This is an unequivocal breach of the robust non-compete and confidentiality clause he signed when he joined the iROKO team. We will not be divulging any further details on the subject matter for legal reasons,” Jason said in the release.
