As it has become the reality TV Show, Next Movie Star, the
organisers, Digital Interactive Media, went all out last Friday to usher this
year’s housemates into the 2013 edition with a glittering and glamorous welcome
Party, which held at The Place, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
After having survived intellectually and physically
stimulating 10-days in the training and grooming camp, it was indeed a
breather, a ball and a blast for the 19 housemates chosen from across Africa as
they were given a foretaste of superstardom and what life is like in the
limelight.
(more after the cut)
Looking radiant and resplendent, the housemates mingled and
made merry with family and friends as they also put up different drama sketches
to underscore their readiness to give existing movie stars a run for their
artistry.
According to the executive producer of the show, Sola
Fajobi, “These year’s housemates excite me to no end. Unlike other editions when
you would have started noticing the weak ones amongst them, these housemates
have been exceptional. It seems they came with the realization that only the
Next Movie Star can actually prepare them for a career in any area of the
entertainment industry.” Fajobi further says in order to offer the housemates a
proper ambience for learning and competition, a new, purpose-built mansion
code-named Timberland has been built for the show.
Now in its ninth year, the Next Movie Star, over the years,
has produced talents like Uti Nwachukwu, Tonto Dikeh, Annie Macualay, Boma
Mac-Ake, Kevin Chuwang-Pam and Karen Igho among others; all of who are
excelling in the entertainment industry.
Tagged ‘Call 2 Stardom’, the 2013 NMS Africa Reloaded
edition features housemates from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The
Gambia, Kenya, Namibia and South Africa. Nollywood actor and former runner up
in the Mr. Nigeria contest, Seun Akindele, is the host this year.
With a promise to engage the audience in a more meaningful
way, Fajobi says the show is committed to delivering the best of reality and
talent content to TV Viewers Across Africa. The show will broadcast on leading
TV Stations in Nigeria like Galaxy TV Superscreen Lagos, EBS Benin, STV Port
Harcourt, Kwara TV Ilorin and VChannel Network on Startimes among other
terrestrial TV stations. “The Show will also broadcast on key TV Stations
across 10 African Countries, 24 Hours on the Internet and A Dedicated Youtube
Channel for Live Feeds. There is no dull moment in this year’s edition. Viewers
are encouraged to Vote for their favourite Housemates via SMS and the
Internet,” says Fajobi.
