It is no longer news that, Dennis Okike has emerged the 10th
Ultimate Champion. He had outsmarted Dr. Edmund Umeabuani and Ifunanya Onike in
the waters of Usaka River, where the final battle among the warriors fervently
seeking for the 10th symbol took place.

Competition despite
it’s completion still rocked Uyo city last weekend. At the event we the
executive governor of Akw-Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio, DAAR communications
boss, Raymond Dokpesi and many high ranking officials of Nigerian Breweries and
Akwa-Ibom State. The event kicked off with a brief history of the show. Later
came the early evictees from the show one after the other in the order they
were evicted from the jungle.
Before the winner was crowned, the governor had a few words
about the show. In his speech, the governor thanked the organisers for choosing
the state for the second time. Akwa-Ibam is the only state that has hosted the
vent back to back. He explained that there are more tourist centres in the
state that could be utilised in future editions.
Finally Ukike was brought forward and the past winners
rallied round him while he was crowned the ultimate man. Also brought forward
was Kalu Kalu, a final year student of
Industrial Mathematics in the Federal University of Technology, Owerri who
emerged as the first winner of the first ever fans edition of Gulder Ultimate
Search. The fans edition of Gulder Ultimate Search was hosted by Bob Manuel
Udokwu. Gulder gave fans and viewers of the show a chance to compete in Nigeria’s
first 100 per cent local content reality TV show from the comfort of their
homes. For winning the first ever Fan’s Edition, Kalu Kalu, the Ultimate
Winner, won a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero 3.0L GLX MT, courtesy CFAO motors,
the automotive partner of Gulder Ultimate Search 10. All contestants were also
given a 18 Carat gold necklaces.
Commenting on his victory, Kalu said; “I feel very happy to
be the first winner of the first GUS Fans’ Edition; the first ‘Ultimate
Conqueror’. It is a dream comes true. My friends started calling me Ultimate
Conqueror when I told them I was coming for the search. I took the risk of a night journey to get
here for the search and it was very stressful. I can’t explain how I feel right
now.”
The show was not over as African rapper number one, MI was
on stage to perform at the show. even the governor was on his feet as the
rapper performed to song after song from his hit albums. Akwa-Ibomites quickly
tuned the Le Méridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort into a party zone.
