The publisher of a Lagos-based soft-sell magazine, Global News, Segun Ogunbunmi, has finally regained his freedom after spending three nights at the Ikoyi Prison, Lagos. Ogunbunmi was remanded in prison on Thursday afternoon after he was arraigned by Tunde Folawiyo, son of late Baba Adinni of Yorubaland, Iyanda Folawiyo, over a story he wrote alleging a sexual affair between Tunde and former Lux soap model, Ifeoma Williams.
The seasoned and radical journalist was freed on Monday afternoon after he met the bail conditions placed on him.
According to a statement by Tunde Moshood, publisher of another Lagos-based soft-sell magazine, National Enquirer, “history is definitely repeating itself, and maybe Tunde has forgotten in a hurry that years back, the oldest surviving soft-sell, Fame Weekly once broke the exclusive extra marital affair of his late father, Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo with Abbah Adesanya, now Chief Mrs. Abbah Folawiyo and the story generated controversy just like it is now.
Stating further, Moshood added that, “however, the older Folawiyo being a gentleman to the core followed the path of civil law by seeking a redress in court without harrassing anybody and alas!, the court was going to give its verdict when bubble burst and the whole world was surprised to hear that, the late Baba Adinni was actually having canal knowledge of Abbah Adesanya.”
