She is one of the actresses that make things to happen in the Nigerian entertainment industry, especially in the Yoruba movie genre.
The beautiful actress in a recent chat with Daily Independent on Saturday in Osogbo revealed that contrary to widespread belief by most fans of Nollywood that their actresses find it hard to sustain their marriage, acting has helped in stabilising her marriage.
According to Opeyemi: ‘’although there are two much ups and downs in the entertainment industry especially for the female film makers like myself, nevertheless my experience as an actress coupled with the lessons have copiously learnt in the system ever since I ventured into acting have helped in no small measure in keeping my marriage alive. I want to appreciate God for giving me the talent of acting and for being the secret to the success of my marriage”.
Speaking on the recent crisis that engulfed star actress Funke Akindele’s much celebrated marriage which has hitherto crumbled the marriage; Opeyemi said “marriage is by God’s grace and not by any man’s power. No one could really say the true fact about what led to the divorce because nobody lived with them when the going was good and that is why I can’t blame Funke as many of her fans do.
“It takes two people to make a marriage work and it also takes two to make a marriage crumble so people should stop casting aspersion on Funke because she was not the only one that is involved in the failed marriage, more so, nobody knows the true story. The fault might have emanated from the husband”.
The talented thespian who disclosed that the grace of God has been keeping her going in her career stated that her journey into acting was not planned. “I would say that the grace of God has been sustaining me, although I had passion for acting but I never planned it. That passion got a boost after my accidental encounter with Wale Adenuga among other notable big wigs in the entertainment industry.”
Speaking on the contributions of Nollywood to the development of Nigeria’s economy, Opeyemi who currently has ten movies to her credit said; “apart from that fact that Nollywood has given global recognition to Nigeria, it has also helped in creating job opportunities to talented Nigerians who have penchant for acting and other callings in the entertainment industry thus has reduced unemployment battling the country”.
On whether she may delve into music as some of her colleagues in Nollywood, the fairly-skinned actress said; “Music is a no no for me, although I appreciate music but I don’t think I can ever become a musician. But if you ask me whether I would become a pastor, I would say I have been given the grace to minister unto souls and that is why I always pray for God’s grace to obey God whenever he calls me.”

Speaking on the current leadership of Nigeria, Opeyemi said; “it is not easy to govern Nigeria. If everyone can do what is right and love one another, Nigeria will be a better nation and everyone will have a better life”.
