Rita Dominic in morning

Rita was undoubtedly the star of AMAA this year. Her win as the best Actress in a leading role did elevate her status. It’s not that she is not talented and popular already, but she proved that she could flourish in any atmosphere by winning with a Kenyan movie.
The win however is not paramount with Rita at the moment, this is because she is in mourning at the moment. Though she has refused to tell the public, Rita lost a close relative, Mr. Gerald Ihenmebirim Nwaturuocha popularly called Mr. Whyte. Nwaturuocha is also Rita’s real surname.
The late Mr. Whyte, and the actress, were very close. He had also been a source of support for her when she was coming up as a young actress. The death we gathered made her devastated.
Though the uncle was not into entertainment, he was popular in his own right. Mr. Whyte was a former footballer with Iwuuanyanwu Nationale, when the club was one of the best in the country. He died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH) after what is described as brief illness. He was aged 55years. A Christian wake keep was held at his residence, Ajana Street, Surulere.
Mr. Whyte, was laid to rest at Nwatumocha royal family, Umuanuma Nguru,Aboh Mbaise,Imo State on Monday 30th April 2012 after a funeral mass at St.Charles Catholic Church Umuanama Ngumu
